Intellectual Property Management and Implementation
Intellectual Property Management
I. Mission
The Company is dedicated to the research and development of new drugs and innovative medical technologies. To protect our R&D achievements and strengthen our competitive advantage, we foster and value innovation internally while respecting the intellectual property (IP) rights of others externally. Furthermore, we have established an IP management strategy that integrates our business objectives with R&D resources. By incorporating Social Responsibility, Environmental Protection, and Corporate Governance (ESG) into our IP strategy, we aim to build an operational model that achieves sustainable development through intellectual property.
II. Patent Management
- Patents are assets and rights for corporate operations. A dedicated team within the Operations Department is responsible for patent management, covering patent search, patent strategy, filing, prosecution and maintenance.
- R&D projects are initiated based on business objectives. Innovation outcomes are reported by project teams; following a comprehensive evaluation and patent search, an international patent strategy is formulated.
- Status updates on applications, responses to office actions, grants, and management are reported in Management Meetings. Decisions are made based on the achievement of business goals or strategic adjustments to ensure IP alignment with operational targets and sustainable development.
- We monitor the patent status of technologies relevant to the Company's operations and conduct Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses to manage potential risks.
- We incentivize employees to create invention and provide corresponding rewards.
- Regular training sessions or project discussions are held to enhance employees' patent skills and sustainability awareness.
III. Trademark Management
- Trademarks represent the corporate image and are closely linked to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable operations. Dedicated personnel within the Operations Department handle trademark search, strategy, filing, and management.
- Trademark management aligns with business goals to maintain public trust in our services and products, protecting brand reputation to enhance corporate governance and sustainability.
- Trademark management status is reported in Management Meeting, where decisions are made to ensure IP alignment with operational targets.
- We periodically review trademark to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of maintenance.
IV. Trade Secret Management
- Trade secrets are key to maintaining competitiveness for companies focusing on innovation. The Company utilizes various Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and strictly requires them to be signed before discussions with partners. Additionally, employees must sign confidentiality agreements upon hiring to define confidentiality obligations and the ownership of IP.
- Each department must implement confidentiality management for the data they handle, including inventory, classification, and labeling. Appropriate storage, usage, and access control measures are taken based on the sensitivity level.
- Regular training are conducted to raise awareness of information security and trade secret protection
